Orange Oil Termite Treatment

Orange Oil Termite Treatment

Because termites have become such a rampant problem in the world, more and more methods are being invented to get rid of them, without destroying the surrounding environment. The traditional treatment, termite fumigation, involves the use of very toxic and potentially lethal chemicals. Thus, in an effort to minimize the toxicity of termite exterminations, the orange oil termite treatment was born.

This treatment, unlike the traditional termite treatment, involves chemicals of extremely low toxicity. This is made evident by the fact that the main compound involved is actually drawn from the peel of an orange. This oil-like compound, unlike the fumigation technique, is injected directly into the wood (or other habitat) in which the termites are residing. Thus it can be considered a localized treatment, leaving the surrounding area completely unaffected. While this treatment is much more environmentally-friendly, it can be more expensive and also less effective. Because the oil is injected directly into the wood, you must know exactly where the termites are residing. Consequently, it is easy to miss part of the colony, which will in time, reproduce and replace the termite that were killed with the treatment. So the choice is yours: go with the environmentally-friendly orange oil termite treatment, or kill the environment through termite fumigation.
